Answer

When a New Semester is published, it is published in MCMoodle only after the Registrar has published the course catalog.

Considerations for when to load a new term:

  1. Course Names, and start/end dates of courses will not change in Moodle if changed in the Banner after the course has been loaded into Moodle.

  2. Most schools request a new term be opened around the time that they begin registration for the new term. At this time, the course names and start/end dates are relatively finalized and although some changes will occur, the majority of the changes are finalized.

When they are loaded, instructors will have access to them but not students. Instructors add their content and then make the course visible (under Settings) for students to see it.

Once the term is open, then student add/drops, withdraws and instructor changes will happen automatically in Moodle based on changes in Banner.

Course Names, and start/end dates of courses will not change in Moodle if changed in the Banner after the course has been loaded into Moodle.

If a course is cancelled After it is loaded into Moodle, the course shell will exist. If the course is cancelled, it will stay in the system, however, teachers and students lose access to the course shell, it is only visible to admins.

Old terms can be archived Archiving means students lose access to the courses and instructors have access only by searching for the course using the Course ID. The course no longer appears in the My Courses block for the instructor. Your MCMoodle administrator will archive the old term.

Accessing content from “old” archived course    You may access course content from a previous semester. You can use the Import button in the Administration block to migrate their content from one course shell to another.
