What are the basics for navigating in Moodle 2?
Moodle 2 looks different than the previous version we were using, but once you learn some basics about it, you will find that it is easier to navigate than the old version. Here is an example of what a course will look like in Moodle 2:
The main thing to keep in mind is how the left side of your screen changes depending on what you are working on. Here are some examples:
1. When you first open your course, you will have a “Settings” block on the left side of your screen that looks like this:
2. When you click on an activity, like a quiz for example, the “Settings” block changes to this one:
Click on "Edit settings" to modify your quiz open and close dates, quiz instructions for the student and other settings.
Click on "Edit quiz" to modify the questions.
Note: To get back to the menu that was in example #1, click on the name of your course in the yellow bar at the top of your screen:
This will allow you to get to the Gradebook (“Grades”) or to edit the settings of your course (“Edit settings”) because you will notice that the “Settings” block changes back to the starting point.
3. Your activities can be accessed by either finding them in the course week or by looking in the “Activities” block (the default location will be on the lower left side of your screen) and clicking on an activity type, then you will see those activities that match that type.
This list may be longer, depending on what activities are in your course.
4. In the “Navigation” block on the left side of your screen, you will find the participants list:
When you click on "Participants", you will see the current list of enrolled students and instructors in your course. To see the activity of a student, click on their name, then you will notice the "Navigation" block has changed and you see the student's name you just clicked on. Click on "Activity reports", then "All logs" to see their activity.
